Science troubadour, Jonny Berliner ("Seriously funny"- Scotsman) and Ugly Animal wrangler, Simon Watt ("All the wit and passion of the best comics"- Chortle) have created an especially silly pub quiz cum gameshow with a difference. In a nerdtastic night to remember you will have your geek knowledge tested, take part in the origami Olympics, and play with puns. Niche prizes to be won. Full marks for foolishness. Paxman would hate it.

In a humorous and song-studded talk, science troubadour Jonny Berliner explains how he uses the art of songwriting to make science accessible and entertaining for all. His unique brand of science comedy has helped Berliner appear alongside some of the world's leading science communicators, become a science teacher, education researcher and a TEDx presenting advocate for using songs to educate.

Come along for a spectacular light and sound installation, magnificently projected onto the front of the original Radcliffe Infirmary, now the Humanities building. This stunning free display is based on research from the ‘Diseases of Modern Life’ and uses the latest in technology of 3D mapping and projecting onto a building by the award winning artists from the Projection Studio team.

Follow the light trail throughout Oxford and finish in the Courtyard of the Radcliffe Humanities building to learn about the origins and endings of Victorian diseases, learn about Victorian ideas of ‘modern life’ and how the speed and development of technology affected everyday lives. In the Courtyard area, there will be Oxford researchers ready with games, bite-size talks, interactive activities, and a display from a local school group on what they think about ‘modern’ life and how the Victorians might have felt too.

Food and drinks stalls available and humanities fun all evening.

Demos, dancing and diagrams collide in Sci-Tunes, as comedy science troubadour and science teacher Jonny Berliner shows you how to rock out musically and geologically with a show of curriculum -inspired songs exploring everything from the physics of falling eggs to cosmological comparisons with kumquats! And it's definitely the most exciting way to revise for your GCSE's too. 

This talk is particularly suitable for ages 12+.

Have you ever wondered why it's so much easier to learn lyrics than the facts you learnt in science lessons? Science troubadour and teacher Jonny Berliner, will show you how to write memory boosting revision songs that contain all the information you need to sound like an expert. Who said revision couldn't be fun? No musical ability necessary and bring your own instrument if you wish.
